Triggering for Acquisition

Once you've setup channels and calibrations, you'll want to get on with acquiring data. However, in order to acquire meaningful and relevant data, acquisition must be consistently started, "triggered," under the appropriate conditions. The FullMetrics Analyzer offers fantastic conditional acquisition triggering for both starting and stopping data acquisition.

Trigger Setup
The FullMetrics Analyzer enables the user to define the most appropriate trigger from a number of different approaches. The trigger can be set off of a digital signal, analog signal, or by manual key press. Triggering also allows a pre-trigger or delay for making sure you get the right span of data. As with defining a condition to begin recording data, you may also use the same functionality to define the end of data acquisition for the period. The trigger settings also accommodate a time limit to the data acquisition in case the trigger-end condition isn't met.

Digital Trigger Setup
The FullMetrics Analyzer enables you to base your acquisition start trigger on one or multiple digital inputs, and require either all channels active or to trigger when any channel goes active. While simple to implement, this flexibility provides for multiple trigger conditions from various sources in complex situations.

Analog Trigger Setup
By using an analog signal to trigger data acquisition, the user may define a threshold value and the type of approach to that value; whether a positive or negative slope approach, or an approach from either direction. What's more, the value is in the familiar units of measure for the selected channel instead of an ambiguous voltage value.

Recording Configuration
Even if you won't be at the project, you can set up the FullMetrics Analyzer to record data over a defined span of time. You can even define the interval of cycles to be recorded and whether or not to save profile data. While recording during the scheduled time, your trigger conditions still apply. You may also select which channels will be active or inactive for monitoring and recording and assign their display colors.

Acquire Data
With your setup completed, it's time to collect some data. With the FullMetrics Analyzer, it's as simple as hitting the "Acquire" button on the Profile Analyzer display (shown on the next page) and letting the software work its magic. As signals are read they are stored in the database using the raw digital voltage values, providing data integrity and down-stream flexibility.
